REVIEW
Making extensive use of flashbacks, often with one of her songs playing in the background, this is an in-depth look at the life of a very well-known singer of the 40’s and 50’s.
By and large though, the movie is really a one-woman show as the actress playing the leading role gives a wonderful, believable performance. The rest of the crew are there to fill out the empty space in the picture frame.
Although it runs for 2 hours and 20 minutes, it doesn’t seem quite that long.

BTW: Piaf is a Parisian colloquiaslism for “sparrow”.

Living in a small town, we don't get many of the good movies first time around, so we have to wait for the alternate theatres to pick them up or see them on DVD. I saw La Vie En Rose Oct 07 on the large screen. I enjoyed how accurately it showed Paris in the 40's and 50's. Marion Cotillard did a superb job portraying the adult Edith Piaf through the stages of her adult life. I agree with Ralph, our blogger, that it doesn't feel like two hours, 20 minutes. My rating is 4 stars too. Patricia Wood
